What´s up everybody, I have a 1998 GSXR 600 SRAD/750 engine that is my first bike and unfortunately laid the bike down after fishtailing at about 150 mph. I´m trying to find out if anyone can tell me whether or not the engine could be fixed. The starter covers broke off from where they bolt up. What I mean is two or three of the spots where a bolt should thread into are missing from the engine´s shell. The big cover for the trans clutch is fine no damage but the other two for the starter are pretty much completely gone. I´ve heard that aluminum welds on the engine shell itself would crack on something like this once it heats then cools. If so, is there any other solutions besides getting another engine? Does that part of the engine have pressure inside when the engine is running, or is it just oil flowing around parts?Would I be able to start it without any problems? It´s a 750 engine but don´t know what year and looks like the numbers were filed off, if that´s the only way of being able to tell. I was looking at it from the back of the engine. Is there any other spots that the engine would show? What size engine and what years can fit a 98 600 frame with only some minor fabrication of mounts and stuff? I have some experience with working on cars and trucks and I´m somewhat mechanically inclined but don´t really have any knowledge about bikes. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for reading all my questions
