g´day, I owned a 1984 750 ef for a number of years and rode it everywhere and liked it.had simular problems at first but managed to dial them out.One of the first things was tyres and pressures,next was to change to a heavier fork oil weight and doing one or two other adjustments the bike was very stable under all speeds except high speed mid corner bumps which would bring back scarry tank slaps.
