My gear box can only find 5 speed, anyone know how comes?

Just have my GSX600F about 5 months now. Have searched so many web and kind of information, which show that the GSX600F has 6 speeds gear box on 1990 model. But my one I could only find out 5 speeds. does any one know what could be making it as 5 speeds. the frame No. JS1GN72A3PZ106739
