I bought the bike on ebay about 6 months ago and have done a bit of tinkering since. Apart from a few other small things I have replaced the head cover gasket, made and repaced the sump gasket and cam chain tensioner gasket, replaced the battery, the starter and rear tire.

A couple of things i have learned from trying to work on the E:

If you don´t have much bike experience (like me) talk to a bike mechanic and if he doesn´t have time to look at it, just ask him to listen to it. Worst he can do is say, sorry mate, got no time. You might be lucky and he tells you what he´d do if he were you :D

The whirring noise you can probably hear at idle and while running is likely to be the cam chain, and unless it is more than just background noise, its probably fine.

You do have to take the cam chain tensioner off to get at the starter. Trying otherwise will cost you a starter...damnit

If the bike is overheating, its possible the carbies need a clean because they are running lean (too little oil in the mix) (bout to clean them to see if this works).

Its much easier to get the mufflers back on if you have the bike on the ground. Use your knee to push them into the holes in the kickplate (where the pegs attach?) lying down, while you locate the exhaust in the engine. Use the engine-exhaust bolts to hold the lot while you get them into the kickplate...maybe the ones on my bike are just screwed.

If you reckon I might be able to help you or if you might be able to help me,if you are just working on a gsx250 or have bits, please email me!
