David, (I am assuming it´s you again). You have in a GSX 250 1985. Here´s something to think on, and once again it´s a fuel item. I own a 1985 GSXR 750 with a 15 litre tank. I run it on the equivalent of the old super type fuel (not avgas!). This bike has different carbies to the ones the bike came out with, they are Mikuni and are the later vaccuum types from what my limited knowledge can ascertain. In any case, on the open road (I live in the country- S/W W.A)I was getting 47 miles to the gallon. I am now up to 50.3 mpg on the last tank which was achieved after a particularly tough ride through some really windy roads at reasonable speed - lot of 3rd and 4th gear stuff at high revs, so I am pretty pleased. Incidentally, the mechanic who helped me balance them last time made me set the bike upright which makes a hell of a difference to the way it runs whilst tuning. Cheers Pal, Peter. |
