GAS TANK CAPACITY / MILEAGE PER TANK

my bandit seems to get about 130 miles before the gauge starts blinking, but when i fill it up i only can put about 3.5 gallons before the tank overflows. is my gauge out of allignment or do i need to run it longer on reserve ?
