I have owned my 1996 600 Bandit since 1999. I bought it new from a dealer that had it sitting on the floor and offered it to me at a steal of a price because it was three years old. I low-sided the in 2000 (no fault of the bike) and was creamed by a van pulling a trailer in 2001. In both accidents, there was only cosmetic damage. To fix this disaster I had to look for mods. If I was gonna spend lots of money on the bike I wanted to make it better than it was. Better, stronger, faster.... okay.. that was bad... anywho... The best site I have found anywhere is holeshot.com. I bought their stage 1 kit (new jets, K&N filter) with the slip on pipe. Significant performance increase at mid to high range. The product support from Dale Walker himself is unparalleled in companies 10 times the size. I bought the timing advance kit, Napolean mirrors (stock ones looked like crap), and new bar ends. With the bike breathing well, I went to Corbin for the seat. I bought the Gunfighter and Lady (yeah, someday someone might want a passenger) seat. I can now ride the bike for 150 miles without even knowing I´ve been on a bike... at least not because of the seat... I just added the Universal Vista Cruise today after riding for a couple hundred miles. I also have the Sargent Cycle Tank Panel and am going to get their Super Bag next. Also on the list are Some of the suspension goodies from Holeshot (front forks are weak on these bikes). After that it´s on to cam and clutch. I´m also looking for a new windshield.. stock is just too short for long trips but I don´t want it to look like a grandpa bike either.
