Hello, Well, I´ve owned a ´98 Bandit 12 S for over two years now and I can tell you that it is a tremendously fun bike...however, it is a beast and may be a bit much for a first time street bike...literally it is possible to bring the front up at will in either of the first two gears with no clutch work...all power wheelie. A true torque monster. Like I said, fun, but strong. If you´re confident with the power, it it can be a very rewarding bike. Fast enough to keep up with the sport bikes, comfortable enough to do trips. 3000 Canadian is an alright deal for the bike, but only if it´s been treated right. The engine has been around so long it´s been tweaked so it´s damn near unbreakable. However, 50,000 km is quite a bit of riding, but not a whole lot. I´ve heard of people with over 100,000 miles on their bikes and their still truckin. So just be sure the seller is on the up and up with all the maintenance...valve clearances especially. About the exhaust, just make sure he´s jetted the carbs properly. Aftermarket suspension work is also very popular for this bike, so ask if he´s put on new springs front or rear. Lastly, do try to have him let you test ride it. I´ve been screwed over before...used bikes are an iffy proposition without a test ride. That all said, I love mine to death. Tremendous aftermarket potential with upgrades and power to boot. Just be careful. Best of luck with the purchase...cheers. |
