Starter and gears |

So I had an issue with starting my 2001 bandit 1200s, I opened the casing to the gears and had oil in it(assuming it is to lubricate those gears). The problem was that the large gear´s bolt became lose. I tightened back down and starter worked again. But in my first ride it started fine but after my 4th start I tried to go from neutral to first and the bike died. And the oil light came on. So I tried again and bike died again. Push started and got the bike home. Got the casing off and bolt was still tight, placed casing back on. Stuck on center stand and started bike with electric start and put into first gear fine(without dying). 1.) should oil be in those gears? (Probably stupid question) 2.) why would the bike die when going into 1st gear from neutral? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I´m just getting familiar with this bike! Thanks, Jason |
