Hi folks, I had the unique experience of coasting 1 mile into a gas station the other day because the gas cap wouldn´t come off 25 miles before that. The key is turning, although it doesn´t seem all the way. My suspicion is grit stuck in the mechanism. I´ve sprayed WD-40 in the key hole but the surrounding portion is inaccessible. I´ve also tried compressed air in the keyhole, banging the mechanism, attempted to twist the cap and key, and put downward pressure on the cap. Nothing. Remaining gas is draining, so I´ve ruled out a vacuum. The next step I see is removing the tank and petcock then forcing air through the bottom of the tank to see if I can´t dislodge any grit. I might also try to vacuum out the tank from the same petcock opening. Locksmith cites $150 for this, and my suspicion is they´re going to end up breaking it open anyway. Anybody run into this problem before? Any ideas? Thanks a lot. -Richard
