How good are these Suzuki engines?

I might buy this bike.. seemingly good condition. Want it for a starter bike. Just don´t know how I feel about 40k miles on it.

What do you guys think? I don´t wanna pay $800 (negotiable- the guy said) for this bike and have it crap out on me in a year!

It will be a daily rider so its gotta be dependable.

Any advice would really be appreciated!!
