Hi, I understand what your going through. My bike sat for 26 years. It´s got 1200 orig. Miles on it. I´m trying to figure out if it´s a 450-L or a 450-T, but either way, what I did to solve the problem your having was to put in some good quality fuel system cleaner in the tank with a fresh tank of super gas. Then, I removed the fuel bowl drain cups at the bottom using a 17MM wrench. Then I shot carb cleaner into the carbs by removing the fuel line to the carbs. as well as shot cleaner up and into the carbs from where the drain cups go. I covered up the engine really well to proctect the clear coat on the engine side covers as carb cleaner will eat paint and clear coating. But end game, it worked like a charm. After a couple miles down the road she smoothed out and is not running like a charm. If this does not fix your problem you may need to pull the carbs and clean em up with some carb cleaner. Also, another thing I did was replace the spark plugs. Mine had Champion plugs in her. I´m a serious old car guy and Champion plugs are not worth their weight in junk. I put in NGK plugs and she now runs like a raped ape. Good luck! |
