My neighbor just gave me a Suzuki GS1000. It isn´t running, but I hope to have that fixed by the end of next week.

Manufacture date is 12/77.
Serial number GS1000 1016XX.

Was this first version? I read that the GS1000 was introduced in February 78 but by May they were on version 2. How can I tell? Does it matter? Does anyone really care?
