My son bought a 1980 GN400 this summer for $500. The problem is this.
The battery only charges when the ignition is in the second of two on positions. When it´s in the middle position the brake light and turn signals quickly drain the NEW battery. In the second position there are no lights but the headlamp.

Can anyone tell me what is normal on this otherwise great bike, and what can I do to make it safe to ride?
