Oct. 9th I got the wifes permission(and more importantly the cash) to buy my drz400s.There are 3 suzuki dealers in my general area(Baltimore,Md.),so I headed to the nearest one(Pete´s Cycle,SP)that Saturday afternoon.I approached a salesman and asked what drz´s were available.A 2004 blue/white one was on-hand.Price would be $5499 plus the usual(ttf).I showed him the money and made a counter-offer,which he countered with an offer I was considering when he let slip the bike would not be ready untill Tuesday! He laughed when I said I wanted to ride it home,so I walked out and went up the road to the next dealer(Cycleworld). My first question there was if I bought, could I ride it home that day.Their affirmative reply sealed the deal(even tho it was the yellow one).

I put 500 miles on it the first week, and over 1600 the first month of ownership.I have changed oil and filter twice.Checked for bolt, sprocket, chain tightness(adjusted chain once). The dealer wanted $215 for this service at 500m!!

I love it so far but there are a few areas to improve. The tires are very slippery in wet grass,mud,etc..Although gas mileage is excellent(60-80mpg so far),she goes on reserve after about 120m.I have done some extended road riding and an hour in the saddle on-road is about all my hiney can handle without a short break.

Currently testing homemade windscreen and hand protection(1/8" plexiglass) to enable winter riding. It helps but the test continues.

Power is very good for me(170lbs.).I could go on,but it´s a sunny day in the 50´s.My bike is calling.

Steve
