I have always wanted a dirt bike, and really only have experience on dirt with very little street riding. I plan to take my local 3 day beginner riding coarse soon. My boat mechanic will hold and sell me his DR650 2002 with 5000 miles on it with new tires for $2000. I am a little worried that a 650 might be a little too much power to learn on. I really only plan to ride this bike to work a 12 mile round trip and maybe an hour on the weekends.
