don.t know about external speakers but i use a personal mp3 player. most earphones are virtually useless once you are going over 30-40mph. also you tend to find yourself turning up the volume to compensate. not only can this damage your hearing but it also drains the power much quicker. i found the best in-ear phones were those made by koss, called the plug. there are two models to choose from. don,t buy the white ones. they are larger and don,t seem to work as well. go for the purple or black ones. they work in a similar way to the foam insert plugs many bikers use to protect their ears from wind and engine noise and if inserted correctly provide excellent noise insulation, and of course you can hear your music. hope this helps. these can be purchased from ebay for around £10 including p@p.
