Opening The Trunk

I am new to the AN 400 (Burgman) It seems like a great bike but getting the trunk open seems to be far too hard. I got it open once by pushing and turning the key, for some reason I heard it click and the trunk was open. However I can´t seem to duplicate this "feat" again. Is there a trick to opening the trunk?
