Engine problem

Anyone any ideas on the following problem? Starts and runs fine on some occassions on others it suddenly misfires and stalls when revs drop. On occassions unable to restart. Have replaced the carb to engine rubber connector which had split, and problem improved. Have replaced spark plug and cleaned carb out but stillnot running properly.
