oil/air cooled?

Saw this bike yesterday and looks great. Questions: how does the oil/air-cooled engine compare to a water cooled one. Maintenance, quality issues? Any guesses why Suzuki would leave this one as oil/air vs water-cooled on most of their other boulevard series?
