I´ve been told by two seperate mechanics the backfiring is a modification to meet all emissions requirements internationally. Supposedly when your shifting down your unburnt fuel is sent in a tube to be re-burnt. Please somebody correct me if I´m wrong, because this backfiring is annoying as hell.
