I purchased a new C109RT from a dealers friend with 700 miles on it. The motorcycle was kept in a storage bin and not ridden that much due to a death of a family member that rode along. I had been working with two salesmen, one from where I purchased and have my other Suzuki motorcycles and the other in South Jersey, including was also a Suzuki Representative that was trying to find me a new 2008 blvd C109RT with the red white and blue colors. I wanted this bike to be used in the final leg of a run that I have planned that leaves from NJ along the east coast thru Texas, Mexico then down to the tip of South America. I plan on a return ride up th east coast of South America thru Mexico, up to California, where I would pick up my Red White and Blue C109RT and ride across the US to Benefit all Military Personnel, including the Disabled Veterans like my self. I purchased an extended warranty from my dealer as I have on my other motorcycles. I recently changed the oil and filter, using Suzuki parts and oil and went by the book to change and fill it properly. My wife and friends rode from NJ to Delmarva Maryland for the week rally in September then back home. As expected the bike rode perfectly, with a small vibration that I would have checked by the dealership when I returned. When I returned I brought the bike over to check the vibration, seemed that a bolt that holds the windscreen was missing. These were ordered and I stated that I would be brining it in within the following week for another oil change. I rode the bike from my house and less than 1/2 block away the bike lost power on a hill to the light. I managed to back down the hill and parked on the street, I turned off the engine and called my wife that was waiting for me at the dealership and told her of the problem, she spoke to the service manager who stated that they were walking down the hill to help me. While waiting, I checked the oil after cooling off and the oil was okay. When the manager arrived with several other employees they started the biike and tried to put it in any gear to see if it would move, they reved the engine up and all sounded normal except that the bike would not move. It was finally pushed up the hill, across the street and tried again, this time noises could be heard and the red light on the speedo came on. The manager shut it down and said he beleived that it was the clutch and that it would not be covered under the exsisting Suzuki warranty or the extended warranty. I made calls to the previous dealer and requested service documents on the bike by email, but received a reply that they could not give me that information and could only tell me that the bike was still covered under the Suzuki warranty till next year. I called Suzuki and was told to have my dealership call them. I went to the service shop and looked into the clutch basket, what I saw was the primary drive broken and scorned the rest looked okay. I was told that they would call Suzuki and call me. I received a call that Suzuki would not cover the item and I would have to pay 1,700 dollars to have the bike repaired. I called Suzuki and was told that the oil was low and the parts scorned and that it is a wear and tear item. I tried explaimimg that the primay gear appeared brittle and that I had broken it out of the basket in order to inspect the rest of the parts that seemed fine. There was no resolution. I finally paid and called an attorney. I would like to know if anyone ever had a problem like this with the clutch. I have been riding for over 30 years and have never had a problem with any of my bikes since I keep good care of them and followed the maintance guidelines. Let me know if anyone has ever had this problem. Thank you for any assistance.
