Tempted to buy a Bandit 12 |

I´ve been riding since 1970, and have been exclusively 2-wheels since 1993. I went through cruisers and sportbikes, then bought a 1984 BMW sport-tourer and stuck with BMW for a while. I just lost my 1999 BMW K1200LT to a Texas cattle guard. I have the 84 still (with 360,000 on the odometer) but want to go in a different direction. Besicly I want a generalist motorcycle. Most of my riding is short hops. I commute 87 miles each way to work daily, go to the occasional rally, and am planning a 2-week trip from New Orleans up the Mississippi River to Wisconscin in July. Years ago, Rider did a piece on making your standard roadworthy, using a Bandit 12 as their base machine - installing LeatherLyke bags and a taller Rifle windscreen. YOU ride the machine. I know it´s a fun streetfighter, but what´s your opinion on its comfort and ability to haul my 280lb 6´ body and camping gear on it for 700 mile days? Will David BlueKnightMS@CableOne.net |
