Comparison to Honda Blackbird 1100 |

Here is a good question. Has anyone ever compared the honda blackbird 100 against this 1200? Which one will be the better touring and performave bike allround? This would then be track and real touring. In SA, there is not a lot of these bikes around, but plenty of Blackbirds. There is not a big price difference between these 2 new, but people seem to preffer the blackbird to the zzr1200. I own a ZZR100 D, great bike but it does not compare against the blackbird. I know that the ZZR12 is running the same engine as the ZX12, but then in the end you are never really going to use all this speed and power on any public road. Styling is perfect for the ZZR1200, nice new light cluster and indicator mouldings. Could do more on the suspension, it does not handle that well on the track or twisties. The Blackbird runs circles around this bike on any mountain pass. (please take into concideration that it was test driven by an average driver, and not a proffessional. Best Tyre combo for any Tourer at this stage would be the Maxxis SuperMax tyres. It ca nahndel well over 300 kph + without any sliding, skidding or any whimper of tracktion loss. It will also give you +- 15000 Km life. If you drive like a human and not a want to be racer. The suspension does feel a bit slow on occasions, this is after all the adjustements were made. Very few after market products available for this bike, but then there is very few after market products available for the majority of bikes. Touring panniers are extremely expensive, would like to be able to obtain a cheaper version of these panniers. Have also found that even with the panniers fitted, the bike does not handle too badly. The blackbird does not have panniers, but does have a lot more fun. |
