ZXR750 L3 misfiring

My ZXR750 L3 has 91,000kms on it so yes, it´s getting on.
A couple of weeks ago it began misfiring after I had left it over the weekend (I ride it to work most days).
After warm-up it just began misfiring on at least one cylinder, but I´m not sure which one, or if it´s the same one each time.
After a few kms it seemed to clear up, but fanging it didn´t clear anything, and the plugs are new.
Then it just conked out on me last week.
Rang my mechanic and he said to check the fuel pump, which I did. No action from the pump, so I bought a 2nd hand one on Find a Part, got it and fitted it.
All working well until yesterday when it began misfiring again, so it´s sitting in the garage at home waiting for a solution.
I checked the fuel pump again and it´s working well, so it has to be something like ignition?
Any ideas or past experience with similar please?
All help appreciated.
