My friend David and I just bought 03 and 01 7s´ respectively and we couldn´t be happier with the bikes. Great handling, versatile and plenty quick. The Yam R6 might be a bit quicker, but if you ride well, you´ll keep up just fine. 4000 is a bit on the high side for this bike. I paid 3500 and mine was super clean w/ 2700 miles. But they are VERY solid all-round bikes.
