Should I buy this ZR7S??

Should I buy this ZR7S??

I have been riding an old kawasaki ninja 600R for about 2 years and I´m ready to upgrade. I have found a 2001 Kawasaki ZR7S 750 for 4,000 which is a good price for me. I was wondering if someone thought that this was enough speed to compete with my friend´s Yamaha 2001 600R and R6 or should I look for something more along the sportbike lines.
