I bought a zR-7s 2003.. Oct 2003.. and have about 2,000 miles on it now. I fid it to be a great bike for the money. This later in the new year you´re likely to pick up a good deal on one as 2003 was the last year for this model. I got mine for about $5,500 which I found was pretty hard to beat.

The Kantan you´re looking at, I assume it the 2003 GSX F... will certainly out perform the ZR-7s. However, that really depends on what you´re lookig for. I have no problem riding a good pace with my ZR, but when it comes to lating into it on the straights, I can´t keep up with the true sporters, but then that´s not why I bought it.

It curises well, with it´s stiffer suspension, at 90+ Thought I have not seen more then 110 on it. I´m still in the process of desking it for doing some longer distance riding. It also gets the typical ~45 mpg that you´d expect from a bike in this class.

I guess if I had it to do all over, I´d spend another $1,000 to have the GSX Katana, but as I recall, it was more then an additional $1,000.
