| Good day 2 ya. Be absolutely positive that it is what you think. I too have had a similar issue (not wanting to rum smoothly at lowered RPM). What I have discovered (I also am under 10,000), is that the slightest bit of moisture WITHIN the boots surrounding the spark plugs would make this problem occure. My wife and I would ride every weekend, and dependant on the weather (we live in Florida), the bike would begin to hesitate or miss durring acceleration. We particularly disliked this type issue at major intersections (for obvious reasons). Never the less---After taking it to a local for a looksee and fix, the mechanic insisted I had a perfect ride and was very impressed with it´s upkeep and running. Since his verdict, it has happened twice. I had had it and decided to tear it down, beginning with the fuel tank (to get to the carbs and plugs. Once removed, I noticed the 2 inner plug wire boots were slightly lifted. What was discovered overall was that the two inner plug ports were hardest to keep clean. RFoad grime and oil would build there and with the correct ingredient, yes -water, the boot would lift due to steam pushing them out. What was most difficult to understand was the frequency of it happening. It seemed to come and go. Once I understood what was causing the sputter, all I did was clean the plug ports (this is important to do in order). First, remove the plugs and all debris within. I used accetone to clean both the plug shoots and the plug boots. Then wd40 (moderately) to "seal the deal". Hope this helps. The bike runs top notch if I do this before each season. |
