yes.there is a shovle guide at the base of the timing chain.as it wears it will allow the valves to much slack making a tapping noise.it may goaway after running 5 miles or so but the prblem will still be threr.some bikes can run for miles in this condition.mine has been running for 2 years and 5000 miles. it all depends on how much they want for the bick.hope i helped.
