Hi Glenn - Yes there is a regulator in the battery circuit and I haven´t had any trouble with mine - battery stays up for weeks. There are replacement regulators available from electra usa. Best thing to do is bring the matter up to the attention of guys in kZrider.com forum some of whom have gone the replacement route.....John
