i too have a 550 ltd, i love it to death, it is my most prized posession. i have had her for 3 years now. it has been with me in utah and now lives in NYC with me. we are taking a cross country trip to fresno in a little over a week. I am going to drive to PA first and tune her up before I go south and west.
It is all original, i don´t know how many mile because the speedo cable broke 2 years ago. I will adjust the carbs and valves when i am in PA, maybe then i´ll get this problem with keeping the fron tire on the ground...
