| This is an old message, so you probably will be surprised if you see it. I bought a 440 from 1982 for $500 and the starter on it was bad. The solenoid discharges fine, but the starter that catches the chain to start the motor is bad. There are rebuild kits for them for about $20. So far I have been dealing with push starting mine, but eventually will get around to rebuilding it. If your solenoid discharges (that´s the click you hear when you push the button) it could just be a bad solenoid. Easy replacement. |
