hi, i have owned my z250ltd for two years (1981 w reg, with chopper bars, and sissy bars as extras. 12k in dark blue). my husband did a nut and bolt restoration when i first bought it (but no paint job so as to keep it original).
My bike has always run very well but recently it has become difficult to start. the carb has been stripped and cleaned (to discover a small split in the diaphram, thinking this was a cure- put back together run alot better) but still there is the poor starting problem. Any ideas? Good spark but there seems to be a lack of fuel smell on the plug after a lot of cranking, the float bowl has plenty of juice in it so its not a sticking needle valve so i must presume that its a carb fault? Once warm starts first touch.
Also how do you change the front fork oil and what weight oil should be used? Any ideas or comments would be most welcome and am pleased to have found a dedicated site to such a rare model as ours.
