| When Hurricane Rita came and I evacuated Houston, my first foremost thought was you can take my house but you won´t take my bike. I sat in non moving traffic for the first 5 hours when my bike after I shut it off to conserve gas and because it was extremely hot try to keep the engine cool. When I did this the bike would not start again. We had to contine to jump the bike with my husbands bike. This bike is a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic. The radiator fan kicks on after the bike is running to keep the engine cool. The radiator fan ended up draining my battery and this went on for the rest of the 12 hours we sat in traffic each time we had to move up a car length every hour or so. When nightfall came and it did it again, I made a decision to turn around and drive back home. The bike rode home without any issues and hasn´t done this again. Does anyone know how I can prevent this kind of problem in the future should I be sitting out in traffic on a coastline or bike rally? I had first thought it was because I was shutting the bike off to give it a rest, but it would do it without me shutting the bike off too. |
