All in all this bike can only be described as SWEEEEEET. She looks good, she feels good, with six speed gearbox you can accelerate rapidly from any speed. I haven´t onnly had mine to about 80 mph but I´ll bet she´ll do close to a 100mph if you want to. If I would add anything I think maybe a tach and a gas guage. I watch that trip odo closely because at around 150 miles or so it is time to hit reserve or fill up. When you hit reserve you are supposed yo have about .8 gal of fuel left. (I average around 55 to 57 MPG and that is mostly around town.) Usually there is almost no "sputter" warning before she quits. I generally stop at the next gas stationI see after I switch to reserve, if I run it that low. After about six months of riding the 500 I am thinking maybe I would like one of those new Vulcan 900 models BUT there is a large price difference and significant fuel economy difference there. I think the new 900 only weighs around 100 lbs more than the 500. I sat on a couple of 900 lb bikes and I am just not comfortable with that weight. The 500 is a mere 440 lbs. |
