Has anyone encountered this... when my 2007 Vulcan is hot, a squeal seems to come from the clutch area. I would say it sounded like a dry bearing but the frequency (pitch) is always pretty much constant. Loudness (amplitude) may change a bit and may be slightly chopped as cylinders ignite. This only happens while rolling and while under load and prety much goes away at higher speed. Unloading just a bit (throttling back) reduces and or eliminates the noise...depending on the overall temperature. Were it not for the non-variability of the pitch, I would suspect a dry bearing. I have pretty much ruled out the whistling radiator fan...which has always been both amusing and annoying. When this happens, it is far louder than the fan and does not seem related. Again, it is only when the bike is fully warmed on an at least warm Arizona day...even righ now (January) Any thoughts on what is happening and or what may cure this would be appreciated. Otherwise, I love this mean machine! |
