yes my valves are louder than I would like but have been since new. i now have 3,000 miles and still noisy. But I don´t detect any ticking like you are having. Sounds like the dealer has a good theroy but I dont have a cure. these engines are just NOISY but great engines and dependable. Good Luck, Dennis
