I know this is a late response but I just stumbled across the discussion. I am about 225 lbs as well and the bike performs exceptionally well with me on it. My custom will outrun my buddys 1100 honda shadow (he´s about 180). I had a 750 shadow before and I could not believe the power difference between them. The custom is well worth buying. Plan to keep mine for a long time.
