Just a thought, but I believe that many cars for years have used chromed plastic. Some may have peeled but most that I have seen has remained good. Rock chips withstanding. I would rather have well chromed plastic than poorly chromed metal. I have experienced this with truck rims and they rust just sitting. :O) Maintenance and cleaning are more of a consideration. We will all see the results of time in 5-10 years if we keep the bikes that long. :O) Man I wish the snow would melt away so I could ride my bike rather than browse the web.
