10-17-06 Hi, I´ve owned this bike since April. I´ve got 5,000 miles on it now. I ride every day to work when it doesn´t rain. The pros: Great styling, looks bigger than it is, low seat height, fat rear tire (180), good price (MSRP) for $7,299 but you can buy it for $6,899), I average 44.3 MPG, plastic fenders resists denting. Smaller displacement is less to insure. The cons: Low so you grind the floorboards all of the time, seat is very uncomfortable during long rides, no aftermarket parts yet (needs a free flow air cleaner), low horsepower, no Tach so cuts out when you hit rev limiter, no dipstick for oil, lots of plastic rather than chrome or metal, plastic fenders cannot be custom painted very easily, pipes are restrictive and quiet. Shifter is klunky. So, I am getting used to the bike. My previous bike was a 1983 Honda V-45 Magna. That bike went from 0-60 in 4 seconds. The Kawasaki is much slower but has good torque. The Kawa is easy to handle looks heavier than it really is. My bike before the Honda was a Kawasaki KZ 400. I purchased a low profile windshield to keep wind off of my chest. I put on some Cobra 2 into 1 Power pro HP pipes, (increased the HP and sounds much better and is louder than a Harley) and a Cobra Fi2000R fuel management computer chip. Still cuts out at high revs. The Honda V4 had a 9,600 rpm redline. The bike can cruise at 90 mph with no ill effects. My friends give me a bad time saying, \ |
