My impression after only three hundred miles over four days of riding on the new Streak? It is fabulous, to say the least, in terms of handling, low and mid-range torque, and looks. It is not a two-up cycle, and, in my humble opinion, should not be modified for two-up riding. If a rider wants a passenger-friendly machine, he or she should get the 1600 or 2000 cruiser from Kaw or one of the many great cruisers that are available from several companies. However, the Streak is amenable to all types of great mods, and accessories are available and abundant. Thankfully, motorcycles are available in so many forms and styles, but, for me, the Streak is the current champion in terms of my riding style, my tastes in cruisers, and overall comfort. It just feels right, and it is very stable in tight turns and higher speeds. The engine is proven to be rock solid, and the tranny is reliable and smooth. Kaw engineers have designed a winner. It might be that some of you want more hp, more top speed, more drag race capability, and if so, go with it. I will stay for a good while with this fine example of performance cruiser design and be happy doing it. If I decide to buy a second cycle to complement this one? Why, the Honda ST1300, of course. Just based upon a demo ride, reviews, and rider comments, I think it is a fantastic cycle that will probably love passengers, extended trips, and higher than usual speed. The Mean Streak is a great performance cruiser, no more no less. It is like Copenhagen - It satisfies. |
