Couple of things...
How long was the bike sitting?
Possibility of taking to shop and have them do a service check?
Any warranty left? What was reason for bike sale?
Changing gas is not a bad idea.
How mechanical are you?
What is idle rpm set at?
If so, pull and check plugs, fuel filter.
How is the battery?
