I bought this bike and it ran good, rode from CO Springs to LV and no major issues. Rode arond town for awhile and sometimes when I turned off a few seconds later BANG. Loud backfire from left side pipe. Timing?
The previous owner had removed the filter box and put on K&N style filters. They had detiorated and he put tube socks around the springs. I took apart and cleaned the carbs and replaced with new socks. It sat for a few months and now wont run without the choke full on. If I give it lots of throttle I can push in the choke about half way but it wants to die.

Cleaned the carbs and it got a little better but not rideable. Those carbs looked like someone had messed with pretty bad. I replaced with a better set from a bike said to be running. Got it to start and idle with choke off but has bad throttle response, also slightly back fires from both sides. I adjusted the timing chain slack per factory manual but still the same. Looked at the advance weights and they were lubed and seemed to move freely. I have 3 of these bikes and lots of parts, but could use some advice before I go to rebuild the whole thing. Any help?
