| First make sure your float does not have a hole and is leaking. I usually just fill a glass with water and hold it under. See if you have bubbles. Wiggle it around a bit. The next thing to do is to hold the float up on the carb without the bottom cover. Hook the gas line up or spray with carb cleaner and see if you still have a leak. It could be the needle connected to the float or the part where the needle seats has crud on it. Try blowing out with air or spray with carb cleaner. If that all checks out then it may just be bad setting like you found. A rule of thumb I used is to have the float level when holding the carb upside down. I have not had issues with small engines using this setting. Many floats have a seam that is good to look if it is level. Another thought is the overflow tube should be higher in the bowl. If it is cracked or leaks, you may have this issue. I would just fill the bowl with gas when off. |
