I can tell you with an open heart that you will not make a mistake to get the KLR if you intend to do trailing. I have used mine a few times. Once on a technical 4x4 course and a few times ventured into Mozambique on bush trails. It is a bit top heavy because of the large tank, but still handles nicely and can be quite agile. On the open raod though you should not want to exceed 120km/h as the fuel consunption then drops drastically, but I have pushed mine to 165km/h. Over all she gives me about 20km/l. Back to the trailing... the fairing panels are a bit flimsy. You can expect to damage or break off the front panels covering the radiator and water tank if it should happen that the bike falls over at speed for some reason.
