Hi Lee, I suppose your mileage will differ based on many factors, tune and your driving style being primary. As far as the sidestand vs center stand is concerned, yes I believe the centerstand would be more stable and ease with chain maintenance but would compromise your off road clearance. I suppose one reason for the short stand would be for those times when you really have the bike loaded for touring. The suspension would compress even with the rider off. (I have seen guys with 175 lbs of gear hanging off the back of these bikes riding to Alaska!) I have owned many bikes in my lifetime including Japanese, Italian and American brands and missed neutrals are fairly common. I have found that you just get used to the "quirks" of each bike and it soon becomes easier. As far as extras go on your bike, I have only scratched the surface of the pages available, but here is one I found helpful. http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html With regards to your last question, you would think that, No, it should not make any difference where you bought your bike from, money is money right? Experience has taught me however,(When I lived down in Vancouver) that in some cases you donĀ“t seem to get the same attention from each shop. Especially if you take a Kawi to say, a Honda shop. That said, I have had great service on my Kawi from a local H.D. shop (we only have one bike shop in the area) so if you find a good shop stick with it. Good luck with the KLR, I have had mine for only a short time but have really enjoyed the versatility. It really is the SUV of motorcycles. |
