I just bought my 83’ gpz three days ago. The first day the bike ran perfectly fine except some times when bike idled for too long, the rpm’s would jump up to about 5,000 for about ten seconds. The next day I had a really hard time starting it in the morning even with the choke out all the way. Finally the only way I could get it started was by priming it. I started riding it again and stopped to get some fuel (the bike was now more than warmed up) but when I tried to start it at the gas station the bike would not want to idle at all. So I pulled the choke out one notch but it still had a hard time idling, and finally I pulled the choke out all the way and it finally started. I started riding again and everything was fine it ran good and idled good but not perfect. The third day I tried to start the bike it took an hour to start it and when it did start it would not hold an idle with out the choke. And the fourth day it wouldn’t even start. Can any one let me know what the problem could be; I suspect it is the carburetor or valve adjustment. But I would like to also know if these bikes can be fixed properly, So I could start it on a could morning with out a problem ( I live in Seattle “Cold”brrrrrr) I just want to do what ever it takes to have a reliable “cold morning star every time” Thanks.
