Carburettor query |

Hi, I´m looking at buying a second hand GPZ 500. It looks tidy and everything but the guy I´m buying off has told me that the top speed is restricted to 93mph. Apparently this is because there is a hole in the metal cylinder, in the middle of each carb attached to the rubber diaphragm, which apparently lets in more airflow thus causing the restriction. He says that this is meant to be quite common on imports (which the bike is) but I just thought I´d stick it up here and see if anyone knows about it? He says it is still putting out its full 50-60 BHP, it´s just the top end that´s limited. He is going to give me a spare set of carbs that he has just bought, if I fit these does anyone know whether this will end the restriction? Don´t get me wrong I´m not an animal wanting to do 110mph everywhere, it´s just nice to know your bike is performing to its max. capabilities. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions please get in touch, I´d be really grateful. Thanks a lot, Andrew |
