I am new to the group and have had 2 H1´s. The first one I bought on June 6th 1971 and kept for 10 years drag racing it a LOT. Best time at the strip was a believable 13.40 at 99.88. Bike was incredibly reliable, never broke anything except a $10 nylon throwout bearing. People who say they are slow off the line don´t have the courage to take them to 7000RPM, drop the clutch, burn rubber for thirty feet, grab second gear while still doing a wheelie, and see 60 MPH and then make the 2nd to 3rd shift all within 4 seconds. ALSO the bike was a bargain in 1971 priced at 1125 versus 1450 for the Honda 750. Take those numbers times 5 to compare today. ALSO I think the 71 was one of the best looking motorcycles of all time with its \ |
